Quilting may be centuries old but artist Leah Evans makes quilts that are far from traditional. Inspired by maps, aerial photography, satellite imagery, and microbial images, Evans creates textiles that explore the relationship between people and the environment.

Evans won the first “Honoring the Future Sustainability Award” at the 2015 Smithsonian Craft Show in Washington, DC for her quilted wall hangings.
