This week marks the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, an event many believe was a turning point of the Civil War.Colonel Rufus Dawes of the 6th Wisconsin Infantry celebrated his 25th birthday during the battle. On July 4, 1863, Dawes and his fiance Mary Gates wrote to each other about the day.
