Angela Fitzgerald hits the trails with the Wisconsin ATV / UTV Association in Lakewood, an organization working with local communities to educate, support and expand this growing sport. Their journey starts in Oconto County with the Hidden Bear Trail ATV Club, a local chapter that maintains and builds trails in the area.
From there, we experience a different kind of trail sport, as a group of Onewheel enthusiasts takes to the trails in Northern Wisconsin. Midwest Onewheel hosts a racing competition at WinMan Trails in Winchester. Riders from across the United States compete in time trials, using mountain bike trails to test their skills and riding ability.
Next, get to know the Little Heart Project, which places handmade crocheted hearts in public spaces with encouraging notes and crisis support resources. Founded by Kathleen Jensen after her own mental health journey, this initiative offers hope and connection. With over 31,000 hearts distributed globally, it supports people through simple, heartfelt gestures.
We spend an afternoon writer Patti See, whose life on the quirky Lake Hallie has inspired a newspaper column and a collection of short stories. On the lake, See finds more than just a place to live, but a community where neighbors become family and every shoreline holds a story.
And lastly, we take to the skies during a week at Camp Willa, a five-day program of Willa Brown Aviation Academy that introduces youth from underserved communities to the world of aviation. In an industry where only 6% of pilots are women and 3% are pilots of color, mentors at Camp Willa highlight aviation careers and inspire future pilots.
